Oh, I remember THAT.  Before discovering rn, we used to go out in great
big smelly groups with our stone-tipped spears to fell the mastodons.
Most days we wouldn't have any luck.  Then, just when we all thought
the whole tribe'd starve to death, somebody would read something on
net.mastodon about where we'd be able to topple one.  And there would
be an orgy of eating, and posting to rec.craft.stone.carving (or
comp.algorithms.hunting for some people; a chacun son gout).

Come to think of it, perhaps I am unable to remember a time without Usenet.

Wow, you said a personal joke to me....I'm touched.  I'm proud that
you're my friend, Andy.  When are you going to post to
alt.usenet.manifestoes again?  I haven't rejected an article in a
WHILE.

I remember a huge discussion about it in net.general in '84
(unfortunately, no one seems to archive from that far back and my
personal archives were lost about six accounts ago).
