Egoist Manifesto #1

From: Jacob Lauinger <lauinger@Princeton.EDU>
Date: 12 Mar 1996 22:06:00 GMT
Organization: Princeton University

TODAY is a day for angry sinners cast
down by repentant mobs. Let the
sinner beware! For he shall be hunted
to the ends of the earth for his own good.

TODAY is a day for the individual,
swept up by he throes of his own
      individuality, which threaten to
absorb him in the very swells of the
      conformity he ridicules.

TODAY is a day for long-legged, firm-
-breasted women who need only appear
to receive our most heartfelt ministrations
      of love, fellowship, & need.

TODAY is a day of realizations & solutions,
none of which ever seem to come to
      fruition.

TODAY is a day for happiness. For even in
misery is the ratification of existance,
in which lies the fundamental, necessary
      good.

----------------------------------------------------

Having understood our climate to be such,
we state:

FIRST: That we ACKNOWLEDGE & EMBRACE the Self-Love
that occupies, motivates, & defines man.

SECOND: That it is such Self-Love that GIVES BIRTH
to Art, & that Art is not limited to the conventions
of Literature & Poetry, Painting, Architecture,
Sculpture, & Music, but encompasses Science,
Computer Programming, Graphic Design, Fashion Design,
& all endeavors through which the human spirit
may speak.

THIRD: That we EMBRACE the Absurd, & RELISH
Satire & Invective as tools for keeping the self
pure.

FOURTH: That we Reaffirm our ties with the
Artists & Artistic Creations of the past,
for to be of a former age is not to be without
value.

--------------------------------------------------------

In Conclusion, we URGE:

The EXPLORATION of the Love of Self as the
Progenitor of humanity.

The REFUSAL of any to limit himself to one
particular venue of Expression.

The COMMUNICATION of all who see Merit in the
above, for the Progress of all.
