You find yourself standing on Jefferson, a quiet Berkeley street near Dwight. On your right is number 2435. You see a row of five apartments. They're quaint, reminding you of a 1950's-style motel.
A vicious-sounding dog starts barking at you from Apartment F. Neighbours peek through their shades and look at you suspiciously.
To your surprise, a hidden force makes you walk up the driveway, stopping in front of Apartment G. You note fresh paint on the bannister, door, and windows. You climb up five steps to face the door. The shades are drawn.
You could fight the hidden force and leave this virtual world. But you know that whatever is in this apartment must be awfully interesting, or else the author wouldn't have gone to all the effort.
