CDs Purchased by Stephen in January

"Oh, gosh, I can put one of these on right now if you want. I like them a lot," Stephen says.

January 1995 CDs

Portishead's Dummy -- "Very moody, spooky, the whole bit. They do that one that sounds like it could be from the Twin Peaks soundtrack, `Sour Times.' This is one of the most effective mood albums in years, but it's much more compelling than just regular ambient stuff."

Pearl Jam's Vitalogy -- "I'm not a big grunge fan and I don't care much for Pearl Jam actually. I rarely buy CDs with male singers these days, but I decided to pick this one up anyway, because I liked the songs `Corduroy' and `Better Man.' I think this album is actually pretty good; it's very experimental and moody, without being full of all this overwrought stuff about Eddie's life. And it's well packaged, all environmentally friendly. I think Pearl Jam has a lot of credibility. I may buy their earlier albums now."

"I can show you the CDs I bought in February again, if you want. Sorry, I can't remember which ones I got in December, because there were a lot."

You nod in a pointed way and look around the living room again.
