42 Dialup Configuration
42 uses generic Internet Protocol configuration techniques that use settings that are independent of any type of computer being used. Here is the specific configuraiton instructions for the two most popular computers:
» MacOS X
» Windows XP
The 42 dialup authorization system needs a valid username (user@netwired.net) and password. Your dialup username is supplied to you when you open a new account.
When configuring your Internet dialup use these settings:
• Protocol type is PPP
• Username is your dialup username (user@netwired.net)
• Password is the password supplied to you by 42
• The Berkeley telephone number: 295 4015 (secondary: 295 4123) [if you are not local to Berkeley, CA, please contact
for additional dialup numbers.
• Allow the dialup server to set up the IP address, gateway and DNS addresses automatically
If you get the "Cannot Find Server" message it might be due to DNS settings in your computer. Go to the TCP/IP properties and look to make sure DNS Address is set to automatic. If that doesn't fix it, use these two DNS servers 205.149.0.10 and 205.149.0.20
